About

On 30 September 2024, the Feughside Community Association purchased a 4.2 acre plot of land at Manse Croft in Strachan to create a new community garden.

The site is south facing, positioned between the river and the road, right beside the play park. It includes a woodland area by the river (popular with walkers), an open space with potential for a wildflower meadow, and an upper area that will be developed into the community garden.

The plot was initially very overgrown and still requires plenty of work, but thanks to the efforts of many volunteers, it is steadily transforming into a beautiful community space.

Our Vision

Our vision is to create a beautiful, natural space that is accessible and welcoming, rich in biodiversity, and sustainably managed for the future, a place that fosters a sense of belonging and enhances the quality of life for everyone in the community.

For The Community

There is strong community support for the project, as demonstrated in the Community Action Plan and Local Place Plan, as well as through surveys and ongoing community engagement.

Volunteering Days - Everyone Welcome!

The Garden Group organise monthly volunteer days (usually weekends) to work on transforming the garden and meadow into something for us all to be proud of. Anyone of any age or ability can be of help and so please do volunteer if you can. If you have an interest in gardening, the outdoors or just in meeting up with other local residents, then the Community Garden could be for you. Please watch out for news on dates in either the FCA emails (if a member), our Facebook page or the Strachan Newsletter
