Strachan Hall

About Strachan Hall

At the heart of Strachan village, our much-loved hall has been a place for local gatherings, celebrations, and community life for nearly a century.

Built in 1927 through public subscription on land gifted by Elizabeth Bentinck of Banchory Lodge, the hall remains a proud example of community spirit and volunteer effort.

Located at the east end of the village on the B974 road from Banchory to Fettercairn, just three miles south of Banchory, Strachan Village Hall is available for everyone to use and enjoy. It provides a welcoming space for weddings, parties, concerts, dances, club meetings, classes, and community events.

A Hall For All

The hall offers two flexible spaces:

  • Main Hall – a bright, wood-lined room (14.5 m × 9 m) with a high roof, suitable for large functions, indoor sports, or performances.

  • Small Hall – a cosy 6 m × 5.5 m meeting room, ideal for smaller groups, workshops, or committee meetings.

Facilities include WiFi, heating, a fully equipped kitchen, a modular stage, tables and chairs for over 100 people, and matching crockery and cutlery. The hall is also equipped with emergency power backup and a defibrillator (AED), and serves as a local emergency centre for the community during power cuts or other disruptions.

Run by Volunteers

Strachan Hall is run by the Strachan Hall Committee, a group of local volunteers who oversee its management and maintenance. The committee meets quarterly, and we’d love more members of the community come along or get involved.

We keep hire charges as affordable as possible, relying on hall bookings, fundraising, and our popular annual 200 Club draw to meet running costs.

Book the Hall

The hall can be booked for private or community use.
