Suggested Funding Sources for Communities
There are a number of funding sources available to Communities but it is not always easy to find out about them. To try to help you, we have pulled together some information below to help guide you in what may be available for your local project, organisation or idea.
Midhill Windfarm Community Benefit Fund
The community of Feughside is eligible to apply for funding from Midhill windfarm development for projects which can demonstrate benefit to the community.
Applications by community organisations requesting funding may be made at any time but, providing there are sufficient funds available, there are only three deadlines per year when applications will be assessed - 1st March, 1st July and 1st October.
Each application is reviewed by a sub committee comprising CC members and local residents and scored against a set of criteria. They then provide recommendations to the Feughside Community Council, at the end of March, July and October, for a final vote on whether to support that project or not.
All applications along with recommendations will be forwarded to Natural Power, a subsidiary of Fred Olsen Renewables who own and manage the Midhill Windfarm development. Provided that they are in agreement with the recommendations, Natural Power will approve and distribute funds directly to the applicant/s. The process from application to successful applicants receiving funds is approximately 6 months.
Since its inception, funding received from the Midhill windfarm has been used for a variety of projects which have benefited our communities. Examples include, installing Glendye Snowgate webcam; improvements for both Strachan and Inchmarlo Village halls; supporting the Strachan village youth group; repairs to Inchmarlo hall carpark; ‘portrait of our time’ nativity play; supporting local bowling club; supporting the Inchmarlo community workshop; x
No application is too large or too small, so whether your idea is to provide a contribution towards a larger community project or to fund a small local initiative, all applications submitted will be considered.
