New Community Action Plan
A consultation process is ongoing to prepare and issue an updated Community Action Plan and also a new Local Place Plan - please look at the Local Place Plan tab for more details.
This is a unique opportunity to have input into the process and have a say in forging a vision for the future of our community.
What is a Community Action Plan?
A roadmap created by a community to identify goals, priorities, and actions for improving their area. It helps solve local issues and create long-term solutions — such as improving public transport, expanding broadband, upgrading services and hosting more community events.
What is a Local Place Plan?
A new planning tool that gives local communities a say in land use and development. It allows them to propose projects like new walking and cycle paths, conservation areas and improved local amenities. Our plan could directly influence Aberdeenshire Council's planning policies, helping future development better meet our needs.

Broadband
Many of the homes and businesses in the rural areas surrounding Banchory have unacceptably slow internet speeds. While superfast Broadband cabling has been run to Banchory and Aboyne, there are areas of Inchmarlo, Bridge of Canny, Strachan, Auchattie and Glendye who struggle to watch basic streaming iPlayer and movies on demand with variable internet access at high demand periods.
We are supporting a local action group – Mid Deeside Broadband who are actively lobbying to gather information from local residents about their internet experiences and lobbying for an improved service. More information is available on http://www.mid-deesidebroadband.co.uk/ including a broadband speed checker and online questionnaire.

December 2019
Community Consultation Process regarding possible Change of Boundary / Dissolution.
Feughdee West Community Council (FWCC) presently represents the communities of Inchmarlo, part of Glassel, Brathens, Strachan, Glen Dye, Auchattie, Tilquhillie, Bridge of Feugh and Blackhall.
We have recently produced a Community Action Plan (CAP), outlining potential community projects for the next 15 years. As a result of that work, it was noted that not only are various communities separated geographically by the River Dee, Scolty Hill and the town of Banchory (with no direct road connection) but they also have different demographics and different priorities. Subsequently no joint projects were identified within the CAP.
The CAP did not suggest that the communities should ‘split’ in order to achieve the proposed projects. Nevertheless a conversation was started to understand both the benefits and disadvantages of dissolving or changing the current FWCC boundary and possibly creating two new Community Councils.
A vote by FWCC saw the majority of community councillors in favour of a change to the present set up. However, prior to making such a change there must be a community consultation.
On the next link below " Community Consultation Questionnaire" there is additional information outlining the advantages and dissadvantages of the potential options and three questions that directly relate to the three options.
To help guide this important decision on the future of FWCC we would like you to complete the short Community Consultation Questionnaire below or alternatively complete the online survey by clicking on the survey monkey link below.

July 2019
Community Action Plan ( CAP)
The results have now been compiled from the community survey and feedback sessions and a Community Action Plan has been finalised and published. All households in the community should have received a summary fold out card but copies of the report, results and fold out card can be downloaded on the links below. A copy of the full 74 page research report is available on request.
These documents will be used to shape decisions, support funding applications and focus the priorities made on behalf of the community in the years ahead.
A recurring theme is to encourage increased community feedback and engagement. There are open monthly meetings which alternate between Imchmarlo and Strachan village halls on the last Thursday of the month - meeting details are on the " About" tab.
